And so, I Blog!!

Soooo, everybody is blogging except for Moi? Is this the newest form of writing? Are we headed towards the reality of the movie "Fahrenheit 451 "? What a tragedy that would be!! I have tried Twitter~for about 48 hours ,not for me at all! I do Facebook, but also find it to be truly surfacy and a bit of a waste of my time. I like to write, not twit or mindlessly comment. So, I guess I will. :) Here I will share on the most precious thing in my life, my recovery and my spiritual journey. If my only audience is that of the ether, that will be good enough ... for I write not to be read, but because I am called to write!!! And so, I blog!!
I will begin with the daily readings from the book:

A Grateful Heart ~ 365 ways to give thanks at mealtime edited by MJ Ryan
The Winter Prayers began on the first day of winter ~ so I am begining there. The winter prayers begin with this thought:
A thankful soul is thankful under all circumstances, a complaining soul complains even if he lives in paradise. -BAHA'U'LLAH

Food is not merely something we eat.  It is a ceaseless
reminder that we are mortal, earthbound, hungry, and
in need.  We are bound by a biological imperitave that
forever keeps us returning to the soil, plants, animals,
and running waters for replenishment.  Eating is life.
Each time we eat, the soul continues its earthly journey.
With every morsel of food swallowed a voice says, "I
choose life.  I choose to eat, for I yearn for something
more."
                                           - Marc David

Hmmmm...the "the ceaseless reminder that we are mortal, earthbound,
hungry and in need."     And therefore, it is a reminder about where I can
turn to meet those needs.  With so many of us struggling with weight issues
and eating disorders, and childhood obesity on the rise ... it is clear that
food has taken over way too much space in the reach for security and
comfort.
So, as in so many things, for me it is all about balance.
Do I eat to live?  Or, live to eat?
Food is fuel, not fulfillment ... and it is a grounding to the earth,
and is about so much more than food ... yes, if chosen well and in
moderation... it feeds life and love and creativity and sharing ...
it feeds and fuels the journey ... it is not the journey ..
it is simply fuel ....kept in balance and moderation,
food, like all things, points me toward
gratitude ... toward the divine.
