Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving -
it doesn’t matter,
ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you broken your vows a
hundred times.
Come, come again, come.
- Rumi
When I took my first vows as a nun,
the entrance hymn was called
"Come as you Are".
It was a song given to me by an Augustinian novice from Australia
named Jared. We had become good friends before he left the novitiate
and returned to his home country.
The song was an Australian Christian song with a bit of a soft country beat ...
and expressed so much what I really believe ...
that we can all come to God,
always,
in all ways,
no matter what!
The heart of God is ALWAYS open!!
This is a newer, rockier song ...
but the thought is the same.
Love,
Cate
